Preparing to decorate your apartment this fall?

Since it is still August, so the last thing on your mind is the fall season. Instead of dreading the back-to-school time period, we have gathered some fall decorating ideas from HGTV that will get you excited for the changing leaves, brisk air, and harvest foods, and not break your bank.

  • Woodsy Charm:

    • First of all, adding firewood or wood decorations add a great cozy ambiance to a room. This does not mean you need to get the fireplace working all of a sudden. Instead, just having some firewood around a fireplace or stopping at HomeGoods to see what they have in stock for fake wood decor will do the trick.

  • Fresh Flowers: 

    • Adding Mums to your doorstep or right in your front living space will liven up a room. Use warm seasonal colors, like orange, red and purple to bring the outside in without tracking in leaves and mud!

  • Adding Layers: 

    • With the cold air coming in quickly, it is a really easy and cozy touch to add a throw to an armchair in your living room. You probably have some times you can use to spice up your space. No need to go out and buy anything! Just pull out that an old blanket from the closet and place it nicely over a piece of furniture for a warm, welcoming feel.

  • Warm Wreaths: 

    • Wreaths are beautiful accents both indoors and outdoors. Whether you purchase a real or fake wreath from a market or home decor store, a warm wreath (check out Pier 1 for some great ones) can almost be a foreshadowing to a Christmas wreath. Also, many people associate wreaths with holidays and comfort, so adding a light fall-themed one is a good stepping stone.

  • Incorporate Candles: 

    • Don’t go splurging at Yankee Candle, but try a discount store (Marshalls for example). Discount stores carry affordable seasonal candles and candle holders. Candles add a warmth to any room. Especially while guests are over, a few lit candles is a great addition to an environment.
